Book reviews The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling – part 1
There are writers, and there are feelers who write! Wendy unquestionably belongs to the latter kind. What she puts on paper is not just text – it’s an encounter. Not with a book, but with yourself. With what lives beneath the surface, with what seeks a name, and with what quietly asks to be seen.
Her book ‘The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling’ reads like a gentle mirror. No forced self-help, no lofty rambling, but a pure invitation: to slow down, to feel, and to be honest with yourself. She writes with clarity, without detours, and always with a warm tone that makes you, as a reader, breathe.
What makes Wendy special is her ability to make deep emotional intelligence tangible. She writes with expertise, but that knowledge never gets in the way. On the contrary, she carries that knowledge like a second skin, not as a pile of explanations. Everything is thoughtfully crafted – the words, the tone, even the design. Elegant without fuss. Functional without becoming boring.
As a coach, I don’t use her work as an addition but as an essential part of my guidance. The book acts as a quiet co-therapist: my clients feel seen through the exercises, invited by the questions, reassured by the tone. And THAT makes the difference.
Wendy writes with head and heart, but always in service of the reader. No ego on paper, but a gentle hand on your shoulder. For me, this book isn’t a workbook but a compass – for those brave enough to enter their own inner world.
Thank you, Wendy. For your sense of language, your humanity, and your professionalism. Your words work – not only on paper but in real lives.
Warm regards,
Wendy has written a very accessible and wonderful book. She has combined lived experience and wisdom to describe difficult topics in a very fresh and understandable way. If you want to learn more about yourself and your relationships, you will find answers here. Emotions and behavior are explained and pathways and options are shown in a very clear and transparent way.
I would recommend this book to anyone in management and leadership. You may read this book from cover to cover or pick up chapters and subjects as needed. Wendy has left you the choice to decide for yourself. A refreshing and wise book to keep close!”
The design is very welcoming and comforting. Wendy talks with the reader and not at them. She strikes the right cord in pulling the reader into one’s own story. Reading the book meant a lot to me. I heartily recommend this book to others
This book allows you to be your own emotions coach. It is well structured with easy to understand information and life examples. I think it’s brilliant!
I love the concept and the reflection questions of this book. The reflection questions are great for relating experience to the concepts. And seeing how I individually process things: what emotions I let myself feel and experience completely, and the ones I run away from often exacerbating the problems. The book is also helping me work through some grief and despair over a recent difficult situation in my life.
I used to think more in outcomes rather than in an emotional journey. This book made me realize that it is helpful to think about my own humanity. I recommend this book to people who are keen to learn about themselves; and about their needs. The language is clear, but the meanings can be complex. In order to digest the content and get maximum value out of it, I advice to read and reflect in small chunks. I’d love to read more.
This book is fantastic! It covers a great range of topics and the various exercises are well thought through and easy to follow. I really like the structure of the book and the way in which Wendy has approached it.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is very informative and it offers good guidance.
The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling is well written and majestically performed. If you’re keen on emotions, how they affect daily life, and how you can gain insight and thus control them, this is THE book for you.
Book reviews The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling – part 2
Wendy has written a concise book that genuinely touches you. It encourages self-reflection and especially feeling what is alive within you. In a pleasant, lighthearted, and clear way, she keeps the texts compact and easy to read. Overall, it leaves a positive and well-presented impression. A special book!
While I was looking for the deeper origins of my jealousy, I found your book, ‘The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling’. After reading the blog article about it, I was immediately drawn to the content and ordered it. The illustrations in the book are also beautiful and thoughtfully chosen, especially the wise owls in the yin-yang symbol. Beautiful 💕
Almost every page I see myself in. Because of my former HR work, a coaching course, and other learning moments, I am quite used to reflecting on myself and looking inside. But still… I lost touch with my desires and needs over the past few years. I haven’t given them a rightful place, as you describe. Sooner or later, you come across that.
Together with my coach, I will work on recognizing my needs and desires. In this way, I will surely rediscover myself. Your book 📚 also gives me tools that I find very helpful.
A strong, impressive, and personal book with clear examples, tips, and questions.
There is so much to discover! Wendy has taken me along on an inner journey with this book, stimulating my (own) wisdom and challenging me to experience the ‘now.’ Step-by-step and very educational. I think this book is top-notch!
This book is a source of inspiration. You can draw a great deal of knowledge and insight from it to better understand yourself and each other.
I think The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling is a fantastic book. I love how Wendy weaves her own knowledge and life story into the book alongside theory and cases from clients and others. I also find it very strong how she brings emotions, feelings, thoughts, and life wisdom together in a solid book.
The design is beautiful, fun, and pleasant. Although it covers some tough topics, the illustrations prevent the book from feeling too heavy. In short: big compliments on this beautiful book. Wendy has done a great job, and I can imagine that many people will benefit greatly from the book and her work.
Fresh inspiration and once again a different perspective on the many ways people seek answers within themselves.
Wendy van Mieghem’s writing style is friendly and easy to understand. She discusses relatable situations that everyone faces in daily life. The combination of theory, examples, tips, and illustrations makes the book easy to read. In the mirror Wendy offers, you explore your own desires and needs, bringing you closer to yourself. The book is beautifully designed with attractive colors, an appealing cover, and a ribbon marker.
The author, as a professional, has written an incredibly approachable and accessible story on paper. This book could be a great resource for enthusiasts looking to gain insight and adopt a more conscious way of living. It might very well become your new handbook.
I usually don’t like this kind of books at all, but this one is really worth reading. I didn’t answer the reflection questions at first, but I later went back to do them anyway. It really helps a lot if you’re struggling with something. At first, I thought, ‘Oh, this is totally not for me.’ But once I read a few pages, I found the book very useful and interesting.
For everyone who wants to learn more about concepts like emotion and instinct, this book is highly recommended.
This is a self-help book that truly offers something valuable. The writing style is encouraging, as if you’re having a conversation with a friend who shares her perspective, without sounding know-it-all. It’s easy to read and gives you a pleasant feeling while encouraging reflection. The book is enjoyable to read, but it definitely provokes all sorts of reactions in the reader. The book will be published on October 1st, and I already know I want to buy it, just to keep as a guide at home and to browse through it occasionally when a bothersome trigger arises.
I am impressed with this book. It is very readable and clearly written. It’s nice to discover that my own feelings and thoughts are explainable. This makes me feel less alone in it. This book clearly explains how processes and dependencies work. Due to my interest in therapy and psychology, I read it as a textbook. Solutions can only come once the situation has been mapped out. This book is very helpful in that regard.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The layout of the book is fresh and lively, with nice illustrations and plenty of explanations. Each chapter ends with some reflection questions, so you not only absorb the information but can also apply it. Make sure to get a nice notebook along with this book, and you can start working on reconnecting with yourself and your feelings!
The book explores questions such as: what drives you in daily life, what do you want to accomplish, and what are your needs? It also discusses fears, insecurities, inspiration, and self-confidence. Everything is explained in a relaxed tone. I found the reflection questions at the end of each chapter very helpful. They truly encourage you to work on yourself and motivate you to apply what you’ve read to your own life. In short, a practical book that teaches you to recognize the power behind emotions and feelings that you might otherwise prefer to suppress.
Van Mieghem discusses various topics in clear language, including uncertainty, thoughts, desire, and despair. It is an educational book that encourages you to view feelings and emotions from a different perspective. Want to gain more insight into human behavior, better cope with emotions and pain, and discover how human nature functions? Then, The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling is a recommended read.
Wendy’s book invites you to actually listen to your feelings and emotions so that you can discover the needs behind them. This is not only helpful for yourself (by providing clarity) but also for others.
Once you take the time to get to know your needs and desires, you can be more complete in your expectations, set clearer boundaries, and experience less annoyance and frustration. That is just one of the wise lessons I take from Wendy’s book.
The book is beautiful! Really well written and clear.
The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling offers insights and tools for understanding how you feel, think, and actions. It reads very smoothly because of its accessible writing style, which clearly explains human psychology. This is complemented with reflection exercises that allow you to explore, articulate, and transform yourself as needed. Beautiful, striking illustrations enhance the book. So if you’re interested in self-development personally or professionally, or want to reconnect with your feelings, others, or environment, you should read this book.
The book ‘The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling – Your Daily Life as a Mirror’ has been carefully crafted, covering topics, structure, illustrations, tips, and reflection questions. It is an accessible book suitable for people curious about gaining more insight into their emotional life, as well as for those who have been consciously involved in personal development for some time. The topics address relevant themes that can arise at any moment in life, ensuring it can lead to deeper understanding each time.
Book reviews The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling – part 3
I always find it very interesting to read about psychology, and this book fits very well with that. The book feels very lighthearted, both through the illustrations and the explanations. Wendy van Mieghem’s wisdom about emotion and feeling is an interesting, useful, and engaging book filled with nice drawings and clear questions to work on yourself.
A solid book for those who want to gain more insight into development, spiritual growth, and self-reflection, and consider this important. Also suitable as a reference work.
The chapters are standalone and each cover a different topic. The selection is large and varied, so there is likely something that captivates or interests everyone. It is a book that you can read out of curiosity or because you want to learn more about a specific subject. And by reading the entire book, you can gain a different insight into your feelings and emotions. However, you need to take the time and find some quiet, because the topics discussed often hit very close to home, and what you read and experience needs to be processed slowly.
For those who struggle with concentration and/or don’t feel good about themselves, this book can be quite intense. Reading the book together with someone and discussing it can, on the other hand, provide many opportunities to talk about difficult subjects. Especially because of the book’s friendly, accessible writing. The tone of the book is very pleasant; it is clear and informative without being preachy. For people who want to do more with the book, Wendy van Mieghem offers online training courses as a supplement for deeper understanding, personalized guidance, and exchange.
I experienced the book as a wonderful reference work. I could professionally use it in conversations with students as a career counselor. The book is also a valuable addition to my personal development. It helps you to put things into perspective. For anyone open to learning from what the mirrors in your life tell you, a beautiful book with stunning illustrations and autobiographical texts.
I enjoyed reading your book very much; it was very interesting. For me as a person, but also for my work as an orthopedagogue, your book is very welcome.
This book is a ‘must’ for every professional who works with people. The Wisdom Behind Emotion and Feeling provides you with the depth you need as a professional to stay balanced. The book also offers tools to use yourself as an instrument in contact with others.
Wonderful book, very well written. I recommend this book to everyone!
An accessible book that explains feelings, emotions, and everything related to them in a simple and fun way. Recognizable and inviting to get started with! The book is of good quality, durable, and an affordable purchase.
The buyer gets ‘value for their money.” The book looks inviting; the title clearly shows what the reader can expect. As you read, you learn more about the origin, development, and/or maintenance of both positive and negative emotions and feelings. The level is accessible to a wide audience because the author clearly and effectively communicates her message.
Normally, I read a book from cover to end, but with this book, a different reading and working approach can also work. The words “manual” and “reference” fit the book well. The reflection questions are clear and straightforward. As a reader, answering them all is quite intensive. As a professional, I would consider which questions are most relevant for a specific situation. You can also choose which ones to answer. Then it truly becomes your workbook!
I think it’s a very clear and excellent book. An absolute recommendation!
