About the Sustainable Change Program
The Sustainable Change Program is a comprehensive learning and action program for individuals who want to enhance their emotional intelligence and apply it. It is through understanding human psychology and gradually giving it more breathing space that lasting positive change becomes achievable. Participants experience greater peace, balance, satisfaction, and improved mental health and leadership skills. First, you learn to apply these skills and insights personally. Then, you can also develop them professionally, according to your needs and capacity, to deepen your current expertise.
Customization
The Sustainable Change Program is a personalized training course where you consistently receive individually tailored feedback, both during one-on-one sessions and on teaching days with your training group. You go through a process of sustainable change, supported from within, learning to care equally for your humanity, qualities, and sensitivities.
Participants register annually for a potentially four-year basic program. Attendees come from across the Netherlands (Europe) and internationally. The training is offered in Dutch and English at our ecological classroom in Slochteren (Groningen, The Netherlands, Europe). There are various hotels and bed-and-breakfasts nearby. If needed, you can join online via video conference. The training is provided by my company, Wendyvanmieghem.com that is properly registered with the CRKBO and follows official quality standards.
What Will You Learn?
Through a mix of lived experience, scientific research, practical tools, and body-oriented exercises like mindfulness meditations, you will learn step-by-step techniques to guide yourself through change processes from a safe and constructive perspective. This way, you learn to support yourself in sustainable behavior change, growth, recovery, and human-centered leadership. You will develop more aligned thinking, feeling, and doing, making you more reliable in your interactions and communication. You will learn how to build and maintain healthy relationships, starting with yourself and extending to others. By learning to see and hear yourself and others deeply, you make a difference. With your time, attention, and practice, you learn to create win-win-win situations where everyone’s well-being grows.
During the experiential Sustainable Change Program, you will learn to recognize and apply the naturalness of recovery and change processes in your life. You deepen your insight into human nature, build your emotional carrying capacity, and develop your human-centered leadership. Gradually, you become more aware of the layered dynamics of fear and learn to recognize and use constructive ways to handle it. This helps you transform destructive patterns into constructive ones, fostering lasting positive change. You learn to feel comfortable with your vulnerabilities, recognize when you make mistakes, and take responsibility for them through thorough preventive self-care. Additionally, you will deepen your understanding and skills in conflict management.
You need to do the inner work yourself.I am happy to support you when needed.
Intrinsic Motivation
The training is ideal for people-focused leaders and entrepreneurs seeking more meaning and depth. You experience an intrinsic motivation and/or need to add greater value to your life, work, and the organization or society through emotional intelligence. It helps you stand more firmly for who you are and what you find important. At the same time, you still lack the personal practice and (life) skills needed to stay balanced and create lasting constructive change.
The Sustainable Change Program is a hands-on training program where you create space to learn by interacting with your teacher and fellow group members through regular self-care. You will deepen your understanding and skills in a safe, constructive environment, and in a gentle, step-by-step way.

What is Sustainable Change?
You prefer to change from A to B. Just aim straight for your goal and go for it, right? Unfortunately, such an approach often only gets you more stuck. Change in behavior or culture has no quick fixes. For lasting improvement, it is necessary to invest time, attention, and practice in a nuanced, focused, and regular way. Not just doing something at random, but calmly and patiently working layer by layer towards the desired result. So that the change you long for can be realized and remain permanent.
That is what I call ‘sustainable‘: a lasting, constructive change in which every step helps you move forward in the short and long term. Whether your goal is to feel better about yourself, work better with others, or achieve a higher quality at work or in life, I support you in initiating and nurturing the inner movement needed for this.
Besides adopting a sustainable approach, it is also helpful to go through a change process effectively. This enables you to make the best use of limited resources like time, attention, space, money, raw materials, and energy. When optimal use is not yet possible, there is room to learn. Do so not under pressure, but from a state of deep relaxation and feeling as balanced as possible. This way, lasting recovery, growth, and behavioral change are encouraged.
More Well-Being and Quality
A sustainable and effective outcome often requires a shift in attitude or culture: a different way of making contact, connecting, relating, and communicating. Often, you come to a different view of the same reality through a change in attitude. By practicing, safety, connection, and trust can arise. Where there was tension before, you now experience breathing space and (movement) freedom. And that makes a big difference.
In the book Nurture Sustainable Change, I explain in more detail what is needed to achieve sustainable change in behavior or culture. Stay informed by subscribing to my newsletter.

Structure and Content of the Sustainable Change Program
The Sustainable Change Program is a personalized training program that supports you in making sustainable changes in behavior and culture, achieving sustainable recovery and growth, and developing human-centered leadership skills. All the learning materials you need to reach your goals are provided. However, you control the pace at which you learn and your attitude toward the process, including how often you practice and how well you master the material. Because of the therapeutic nature of the training, completing it does not guarantee that you will achieve all your set learning goals. You will need to do the inner work yourself to develop and apply emotional intelligence and life skills in a nuanced and layered way. Your daily work and life offer plenty of opportunities to practice, so you can start applying what you learn close to home. What you can expect from me is clear explanations and honest, constructive feedback at every step of your journey.
A combination of individual and group sessions
Although part of the training is done in groups, the focus is always on your development. It is customized to your individual needs, qualities, sensitivities, and humanity. The training days and sessions both serve that purpose.
Along with providing theoretical explanations, do-it-yourself assignments, meditation and mindfulness exercises, and training in therapeutic skills, time and space are regularly reserved for participants to ask questions and share experiences. This interaction has a deep and enriching impact. Additionally, you will always receive personalized feedback.
The Basic Training
Participation in the Sustainable Change Program requires the following annual time investment from you:
- 10 training days and 2 technique days per calendar year (training)
- 10 one-hour individual sessions, live or online (individual tuning throughout the process)
- weekly practice skills or techniques at home, make assignments (2 to 4 hours per week)
The basic training lasts 4 years in total. You register per year and are not required to complete the entire program. The focus is not on training length but on mastering the emotional intelligence and life skills needed to enable sustainable change. You can progress at your own pace since everyone learns differently.
A requirement for advancing to the next training year is that you are dedicated and have invested sufficient time, attention, and effort into your sustainable change process. When assessing the value and profit so far, we also consider the balance between cost and benefit, and we both need to expect that participation in the upcoming year will support your recovery and growth, offering more value than its cost.
The Training Days
During each training day, you will receive and learn through:
- Explanation from an integrative, experiential, and practice-focused framework.
- Do-It-Yourself Assignments
- Reflection Assignments
- Question and sharing sessions
- Recovery-oriented meditation and mindfulness practices
- Practice holistic pulsing and mindfulness exercises with a partner. This partner work provides a friendly, crystal-clear, subtle mirror of how you reach out and connect in communication.
The training days take place throughout the year, excluding school holidays. The dates are set in consultation with participants and can be arranged in blocks of 2, 3, 4, or 5 days to reduce travel time and expenses. The program is open to individuals with Master’s degrees. The individual sessions are scheduled between training days, providing most participants with adequate support. If necessary, additional sessions can be booked, especially if you find it challenging to manage the structure and depth of your development on your own, or if you require extra support due to a sudden change in circumstances. Additional sessions will be charged separately from the program fee.
Keep Practicing!
Between training days, it is important to keep practicing. You are encouraged to regularly use the audio recordings, online courses, and books to deepen and refine your insights and skills. The two technique days are designed to provide additional feedback and support for mastering the techniques. They occur throughout the year and provide a great opportunity to meet participants from other training groups.
Your personal needs, qualities, sensitivities, and humanity are considered.
Professional Application
If desired, you can further specialize in the professional application of Sustainable Change in Behavior and Culture during and after the basic training through a custom graduation program to become a Sustainable Change Expert. Ask for more information during the basic training if you’re interested in this graduation program. There is a detailed step-by-step plan available for you, which you can review with me. Of course, this program is also personalized to your personal and professional needs and (im)possibilities. There is plenty of room for your individuality.
Once you have established a firmly rooted and sustainable way of working and living supported from within, you can graduate. Now, you can achieve lasting constructive change in recovery and growth, and you’ve mastered the human-focused leadership skills through connection with yourself and others. All of your investments in terms of time, attention, and practice have led you to develop constructive pathways toward sustainable change in behavior and culture. Not just in your personal life, but also in your professional day-to-day life. You walk these constructive pathways within your area of expertise and in accordance with the professional rules that apply to your field. Your teacher and (former) fellow participants recognize that you can independently create, nurture, and maintain the inner flow necessary for sustainable recovery, growth, change, and the development of human-centered leadership skills in depth.
Loving Self-Care Creates Impact
By integrating care for your own humanity, qualities, and sensitivities into your daily work and life, you have become an open, balanced, and reliable leader who creates win-win-win situations. Furthermore, you no longer abandon yourself. As a person and a leader, you are fully aware that you are not perfect. You no longer strive for perfection. Caring for your vulnerabilities, mistakes, and shortcomings emotionally, through contact and interaction with others, is fully integrated into your daily self-care. As a result, you are always accountable for your actions and demonstrably willing to take responsibility for what you create or contribute. Emotional intelligence, well-being, and quality are now central to your professional conduct. Based on short-term goals, you know how to achieve sustainable results step by step through process-oriented learning, serving long-term well-being.
